icOn 5 Balanced
I’m truly impressed by the new icOn 5. It represents a significant leap forward from the already outstanding and widely popular 4PRO models. The inclusion of the optional input buffer, coupled with the lower inductance autoformers and finely adjustable volume control in increments of 0.5 dB, results in an astonishingly lifelike auditory experience.
The icOn 5 Balanced is a fully balanced version built with two pairs of autoformers. It features five pairs of XLR sockets with 4 input / 1 output or 3 input / 2 output configurations, the latter including a remote-controlled output selector. It offers remarkably precise volume adjustment capabilities, spanning 136 steps within an 83 dB range. I find it hard to imagine that I’ll manage to create a superior audio control unit in the future—perhaps only a distinct one. More info…
